Underground Utilities

Duct Banks, Water Lines, Sewer Lines and Related Structures

Underground Utilities . . . you can't see them.

JRCI has been performing site and utilities in central Virginia for over 33 years!

JRCI Utility Superintendents have a combined field experience of over 120 years!

Our Utility Crews are extremely specialized and are assigned to projects accordingly. We recognize their capabilities and are very fortunate to have gathered the talented JRCI Team. Complex projects are where we excel and has been one of the ways that have helped to set J.R. Caskey apart from the competition.

What are those underground utilities anyways?

Water lines running underground carrying fresh drinking water to your home, schools, businesses, commercial buildings and government facilities. Everyone needs water.

Sanitary sewage systems are another set of pipes running underground carrying sewage away from buildings to be treated before being returned to the local water system.

Storm sewer systems are underground pipe lines designed to carry rainfall runoff. They are not designed to carry sewage or accept hazardous wastes. The runoff is carried in underground pipes or open ditches and discharges untreated into local streams, rivers and other surface water bodies.

Duct banks are groups of underground conduits designed to protect and consolidate cabling to and from buildings. In a duct bank, data and electrical cables are pulled through PVC conduits that are bundled together; these groupings of conduit are protected by concrete.

Steam tunnels are also run underground which allow workers to maintain pipes which transport steam between a central boiler and buildings to be heated or cooled. These are usually found in high density urban areas, large office complexes or in a campus setting.
